Phivolcs Releases Bulletin about the Earthquake Today in Ilocos Norte, January 26, 2024
EARTHQUAKE – The Phivolcs recorded a 4.2 magnitude quake in Ilocos Norte today, January 26, 2024. Here are the details.
Following the 5.1 magnitude earthquake in Surigao del Sur several days ago, another significant quake was recently recorded by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) in another province. According to the agency, the quake hit Ilocos Norte today and it had a magnitude of 4.2.
The earthquake today that struck Ilocos Norte, Friday, January 26, 2023, was tectonic in origin.
According to Phivolcs, the earthquake that hit a part of Ilocos Norte was located at 18.36°North, 120.79°East – 017 km South 48° West of Adams. It had a depth of focus of 008 kilometers.
Phivolcs stated in its bulletin that damages are not expected from the said quake as well as aftershocks. According to the quake-recording agency, the following intensities were recorded:

- Sinait, and Cabugao, ILOCOS SUR
