For those who aren’t willing to invest in the initial $3,500 price of Apple’s headset, it’s reasonable to look forward to the significant software update for iPhones that’s coming soon.
As per the official iOS 17 landing page on Apple’s website, the following iPhone models will be eligible for the update.

- iPhone 13
- iPhone 13 mini

- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro

- iPhone SE (2nd generation or later)
While this list is quite extensive, unfortunately, the iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, and iPhone X are notably absent. This means that if you currently have any of these models, iOS 16 will be the last major update you’ll receive. Although you can expect continued security updates for a while, any new features introduced in iOS 17 or later versions won’t be accessible on these devices.
However, there is a positive aspect to this situation. By the time iOS 17 is released, Apple will have introduced the iPhone 15 series. This provides you with the choice of upgrading to a new device or exploring deals on slightly older iPhone models.
