Lara Maigue – Meet The National Anthem Singer For SONA 2023

PBBM’s 2nd SONA is happening soon and artist Lara Maigue will be singing the PH national anthem.

Artist Lara Maigue will be the PH national anthem’s singer for the second State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Marcos.

The second State Of The Nation Address or SONA of Current Philippine President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will be delivered this Monday, July 24. This will be held at Batasan Complex in Quezon City and will have a Filipiniana or “native” theme-slash-motif.

For the 2nd SONA of the 17th president of the Philippines, more than 2,000 guests are expected to be in attendance while the 2022 SONA was only graced by 1,365 people.

Former presidents Joseph “Erap” Estrada, Gloria Macapaga-Arroyo, and Rodrigo Duterte all confirmed their presence on Monday. As for the singer of the Philippine national anthem “Lupang Hinirang”, artist Lara Maigue will be the one singing this.

She became famous for her video singing Mozart’s “Queen of The Night” casually. It has gone viral online and recently, she was announced as a surprise performer of SONA. House Secretary-General Reginald Velasco shared that they saw her video online and realized how famous she is.

The singer herself was surprised by this.

Lara’s parents are both musically inclined. She is the daughter of Filipino composer Professor Rayben Maigue, and Nanette Moscardon, a soprano. Her mom was her first classical teacher.

They own Maigue Music Studio, an establishment for learning dance, piano, guitar, trumpet, and art for all ages

She majored in voice at the University of the Philippines College of Music and Fides Cuyugan-Asension trained her. She was also recognized by Aliw Awards for her talent. She was awarded Best Female Classical Performer in 2017 and Best Female Crossover Artist in 2018.

In 2014, she did her first musical teleserye called “Trenderas”.

In 2015, she was named among the top 12 finalists in Philpop for her “Nasaan” entry.

In 2018, she became among the finalists of the Singapore Lyric Opera ASEAN Vocal Competition.

She was “Ligaya Paraiso” of the award-winning movie-turned-musical “Maynila Sa Mga Kuko ng Liwanag”.
