PAGASA Says LPA & ITCZ to Bring Rains Over Some Parts of the Country
The state weather bureau PAGASA reported that a low-pressure area and ITCZ will bring rains over some parts of the country.
On Thursday (May 4, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The low-pressure area and Intertropical Convergence Zone will affect the country’s weather condition.
The LPA has been last spotted 130 kilometers Southeast of Cuyo, Palawan and embedded along ITCZ. The ITCZ will be affecting Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“Base po sa tropical cyclone potential forecast ng Pagasa, inaasahang kikilos pakanluran ang nasabing LPA at meron tayong moderate to high chance na magiging isang tropical depression ito o mahinang bagyo,” Pagasa’s weather specialist Benson Estareja said.
The LPA and ITCZ will bring cloudy weather condition with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Visayas, Zamboanga Peninsula, Palawan, Romblon, Masbate, Catanduanes, Albay, Sorsogon, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte, and Surigao del Sur.
“Ngayong araw po ay inaasahang tatawirin nitong LPA ang Sulu Sea at ‘yung northern portion ng mainland Palawan. At tomorrow po, ang araw ng Friday, inaasahang mananatili ito sa West Philippine Sea, mabagal na pagkilos at nasa loob pa rin sa Philippine area of responsiblity hanggang sa weekend,” Estareja added.
The easterlies and localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms over Metro Manila and the rest of the country.
The weather agency has warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.
