Snatcher Arrested After Trying to Escape Checkpoint

A snatcher who attempted to escape at a checkpoint was arrested after crashing his motorcycle into a post.

The suspect has been identified as Rommel Jhon Infante, a 19-year-old male. According to the police, the suspect snatched a bag from a woman on Banawe Street in Quezon City.

The suspect then tried to evade capture by fleeing through a checkpoint in Barangay Manresa, but unfortunately, he collided with a post and his motorcycle overturned. As a result of the crash, he was unable to escape and was promptly apprehended by the authorities.

Upon searching the suspect, the police recovered the bag belonging to the victim, which contained a cell phone and cash. In addition, the authorities also found a loaded firearm and illegal drugs with an estimated value of P40,000 (Philippine Pesos) in the suspect’s possession.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect was allegedly involved in two previous incidents of cellphone snatching. One incident occurred on April 1 on Banawe Street, while the other took place in Caloocan City, where the suspect was reportedly riding in tandem with another individual.

When questioned, the suspect admitted to committing cellphone snatching five times in various locations, citing financial difficulties as his motive. However, he denied any knowledge or ownership of the recovered firearm and drugs.

As a result of his actions, the suspect is now facing multiple charges, including robbery snatching, illegal possession of firearms and ammunition, and violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
