Police Officers Nab Snatcher Who Gets Into Accident While Trying to Escape
QUEZON CITY – The police authorities were able to arrest a snatcher after he gets into a road accident while trying to escape.
ON Tuesday evening (July 12, 2022), the police authorities arrested an 18-year-old suspect after snatching the mobile of his victim in Barangay Doña Imelda, Quezon City. The suspect has been caught while trying to escape.
According to Galas Police Station 11 Investigation and Detection Management Unit chief Police Lt. Joseph Canlas, the suspect snatched the phone of his victim and tried to escape using his motorcycle but got into an accident.
The victim chased and eventually catch the suspect who suffered wounds and injuries due to the incident. The police officers roaming around the area immediately respond and arrest the snatcher.
Canlas said that it was not the first time that the culprit has been arrested for snatching. Earlier this year, he was nabbed for snatching but turned over to DSWD because he was still minor during that time.
The cops also conclude that the suspect has performed his illegal activity in various areas by using a motorcycle whenever he commits a crime.
The snatcher’s motorcycle is currently under the custody of PNP while the suspect will face charges of robbery snatching and violation of R.A 11235 or Motorcycle Prevention Act.
Canlas also warned the residents in the area to be more vigilant and observe proper measures in public places to avoid such incidents. He also advised the public to refrain from using mobile phones in public places.
