Police Authorities Found Missing Teacher Intern Alive Near River Bank in Catbalogan, Samar

The missing teacher intern in Catbalogan, Samar was found alive near the river bank of the Antiao River in Barangay Canlapwas.

A 22-year-old teacher intern and student from Samar State University, Darlene Luzelle Uy, went missing on March 23, 2023 (Thursday) in Catbalogan City. She was last seen at Purok 8, Canlapwas at 1:00-3:00 pm.

Uy was working as a teacher intern at Catbalogan I Central Elementary School when she disappeared, leaving her family and colleagues extremely worried and anxious. Despite extensive search efforts and appeals for information from the public, Uy was not found for five days.

Her parents Ramonito and Citadel Uy even offered a reward of P250,000 to anyone who could provide information on her possible location.

On Tuesday (March 28, 2023), Uy was finally found alive near the river bank of the Antiao River in Barangay Canlapwas, Catbalogan City

Two law enforcement officers on a motorized boat found her behind some nipa and coconut trees in Catbalogan City. According to reports, she was still wearing her blue internship uniform when found.

Upon being found, the missing teacher intern was weak but conscious and responsive. She was immediately taken to the Catbalogan Doctors Hospital for a medical checkup, where she was examined and treated for any health concerns.

However, no information about her condition or the cause of her disappearance has been released by authorities at this time.

While the Investigation is still ongoing to shed light on the the cause of her disappearance. We assure the public and the people of Catbalogan City to remain calm and have faith on the authorities on doing their job. Rest assured that Catbalogan City Police Station will exert its efforts to uncover what transpired surrounding the incident. Police personnel has secured the site where she was located for Scene of the Crime Operations by the Provincial Forensics Unit, Catbalogan City Police Station said.
