Vanessa Hudgens PH Travel Documentary Will Be Directed By Paul Soriano

Paul Soriano To Direct & Produce Vanessa Hudgens Philippines Travel Documentary

VANESSA HUDGENS – Toni Gonzaga’s husband, director Paul Soriano, will direct and produce Vanessa Hudgens’ Philippines travel documentary.

Vanessa Hudgens is known for her starring roles in “The Princess Switch” and “High School Musical.”  Back in 2022, she stated that she wants her Filipina mother’s immigration story to be turned into a film.

“My mom is from the Philippines, and growing up, there weren’t really that many women who looked like me and my mom and my family on screen. It’s so important to share all the different stories because America is a massive melting pot, [just like the] world,” Vanessa said in an interview with Glamour UK.

Based on a report from Hollywood Reporter, Vanessa Hudgens is traveling to the Philippines to explore her family’s history as the star of a brand-new travel documentary. The movie will follow Vanessa on her first visit to the Philippines, highlighting her tight ties to her family and her journey from an American-born half-Filipina to one of the most well-known celebrities in the world.

Later this month, the production will start filming in the Philippine towns of Manila and Palawan. Vanessa’s mother Gina Guangco and sister Stella Hudgens will travel with her and appear with her in the film. The actress frequently spoke proudly about the life story of her mother, who immigrated to the United States at the age of 25 from the Philippines.

“I feel like ours is such a relatable story to so many women all over the world,” Vanessa says. “The more that we can share, the more we can lift each other up.”

According to the report, Paul Soriano, who previously made the Manny Pacquiao biographical Kid Kulafu and the competition entry Mañanita for the 2019 Tokyo International Film Festival, will produce and helm the still-untitled film. In addition, Soriano produced Transit (2013), the Philippines’ submission for the Best International Film category of the 86th Academy Awards, and Lav Diaz’s A Lullaby to the Sorrowful Mystery (2016), which took home a special film prize at the Berlin International Film Festival. The new Vanessa documentary is being produced by the Philippine boutique company TEN17P.

“We are honored to work with Vanessa for this film project,” said Paul.

“It’s inspiring to note that with everything she has achieved in life, she wants to discover her Filipino roots and pay homage to her mother’s country. Hopefully, this opens doors for many more collaborations to come,” he added.
