Vanessa Hudgens has this dream movie
Filipino-American actress Vanessa Hudgens shared that she aspires to do a movie about the life story of her Filipina mom Gina Cuangco Hudgens.
Vanessa has always been proud of her roots and for her, it is vital that more people, especially women will know the story of her immigrant mother. Based on the article in PUSH, during a recent interview with Glamour UK magazine, the actress said that since America is a massive melting pot, many different stories need to be shared.
Through this, a lot more people will be exposed to different stories and so empathy can be expressed towards different people. She specifically mentioned the struggles that her mom went through when she came to the U.S.
“As an immigrant, coming into the States and not knowing anyone, I can’t even imagine how difficult and challenging that is and what challenges she faced as a woman. And my father was a firefighter, so he was gone for a week and home for a week,” Vanessa Hudgens shared.
The actress also shared that she hopes her mother will write a book about her life as an immigrant and so she can create a movie from this. For the actress, it is a very relatable story to many women around the globe. “The more that we can share, the more we can lift each other up,” she stressed.
Vanessa Hudgens also shared wonderful words for her mother. “She’s the strongest woman I know. To come out to the United States with my father, not know a soul here, and to build a new life for herself, it’s terrifying and it takes great courage. To see her now as an adult, and to be able to admire her, her journey, and the light and the spirit that she brings to every place that she goes to is just contagious,” the actress revealed.
She also believes what other people believe that as a person grows older, he or she becomes more like his or her parents. Vanessa admitted that she can see herself now becoming alike with her mother. At first, it was alarming for her but now, she has embraced that fact because she said that her mother is incredible. “I aspire to be like her,” the actress said.
