PAGASA Says Localized Thunderstorms & Northeast Monsoon to Bring Rains Over Parts of PH

The state weather bureau PAGASA reported amihan and the localized thunderstorms will bring rains over parts of the country.

On Friday (February 10, 2023), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather update in the country. The northeast monsoon and localized thunderstorms will affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that the northeast monsoon or amihan will be affecting Luzon. The northeast monsoon will bring cloudy conditions with rains over Bicol Region and Quezon.

The localized thunderstorms will bring partly cloudy to cloudy condition with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms Visayas, Mindanao, and Southern Palawan. The rest of Palawan including Kalayaan Islands, and Occidental Mindoro will experience similar weather condition.

Amihan will bring the same weather condition over Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon.

“Sa nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, generally fair weather condition at may mga tiyansa lamang ng pag-ulan at pag-ambon, Dito sa kalakhang Visayas at Mindanao, generally magiging maaliwalas ang panahon at may tiyansa lamang ng mga localized thunderstorms na maaaring magtagal ng dalawang oras,” Pagasa weather specialist Patrick del Mundo said.

The weather agency has also warned the public of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate with at times heavy rains and severe thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, the coastal water condition over Extreme Northern Luzon and the eastern section of the country will be moderate to rough. The remaining parts of the country will have slight to moderate surrounding sea conditions.

PAGASA said that the chances of tropical cyclones within the Philippine Area of Responsibility for the next three days remain unlikely.

“Nananatiling mababa ang tiyansa na magkaroon tayo ng bagyo in the next days sa ating Philippine Area of Responsibility,” del Mundo added.
