‘No Read No Write’ Patient Asks Neighbor to Read Medical Prescription

Male Netizes Flexes Medical Prescription of ‘No Read No Write’ Neighbor Asking for Help

MEDICAL PRESCRIPTION – A male netizen has flexed the medical prescription of his ‘no read no write’ neighbor asking for help.

A prescription, frequently abbreviated as “or Rx,” is a written request for a pharmacist to distribute a specific prescription medication for a particular patient from a doctor or other qualified health care provider.

In the past, a doctor would give apothecary instructions listing the ingredients to be combined into a treatment; the symbol (a capital R crossed to indicate an abbreviation) is derived from the first word of a medieval prescription, Latin: Recipere (“Take thou”), which provided the ingredients to be combined.

A Facebook user named Rolando Sucatan Tuble has shared the photo of his ‘no read no write’ neighbor’s medical prescription. The post immediately spread like a wildfire online and garnered various reactions from the netizens.

In the photo, the patient’s medical prescription has been written in a ‘stenography’ or shorthand method. It is an abbreviated symbolic writing method that increases the speed and brevity of writing as compared to longhand, a more common method of writing a language.

Most health experts especially doctors were using ‘stenography’ when prescribing medicines for their patients. Only pharmacists and other medical personnel can understand some prescriptions.

Tuble posted it on social media and sought help from the online community to read the prescription. He also explained that his neighbor is an illiterate one.
