Is there a rivalry between Korina Sanchez and Karen Davila?
Seasoned journalist Korina Sanchez asked her fellow journalist Karen Davila what could be the reason why people are trying to make them rivals.
There had been speculations in the past that Korina and Karen are not on good terms even though they are both in ABS-CBN before. Some said that there is a silent rivalry between them especially since they are in the same news and public affairs department.
Back in 2021, Karen already answered this issue. When she transferred to ABS-CBN, she said that Korina is already Korina. She meant that at that time, Korina was already a famous journalist. With this, Karen said that she and Korina were never “nagpantay.”
In the next episode of Korina Sanchez’s show on Net25 titled Korina Interviews, her guest is Karen Davila. The former asked the latter what she thinks the reason could be why people kept on putting a certain rivalry between them. “Bakit sa tingin mo pinag-aaway nila tayo?” Korina asked, based on the article in PEP.
There was also an instance during the interview when Korina said, “I didn’t know that Karen and I have so many things in our lives in common. And it really surprised me. Was that rivalry real? E, manood na lang kayo. And if you watch it on my YouTube channel Rated Korina, don’t skip the ads, ha!“
Entertainment columnist Noel Ferrer said that he can’t call it “pinag-aaway” because for him it is just “pinagtatapat.” He added that when this issue surfaced, both Karen and Korina easily got carried away and so what they said sounded like they had a conflict.
For columnist Jerry Olea, the “pinag-aaway” happened when Karen Davila transferred to ABS-CBN and with this, it was perceived by others as she invaded Korina Sanchez’s territory.
