Holdup Suspect Arrested For Trying to Rob a Police Officer

CEBU CITY – A male suspect has been arrested after he allegedly attempted to holdup and rob a police officer.

Nowadays, robbery has been one of the major problems not only in the Philippines but also in various regions all around the world. Some criminals have no choice but to commit crimes due to lack of job opportunities.

The Philippine government is implementing stricter policy but the crimes continue to exist behind the knowledge of the authorities. The rate of criminality continue to increase despite the stricter rules and regulations.

Last Saturday (September 10, 2022), a man attempted to hold up an off-duty policeman in Cebu City. Unfortunately, the police officer fought back and was able to turn the situation in his favor. The suspect was arrested after the incident.

According to the Cebu City Police Office Station 2, Patrolman Segred Paul Yorpo was having a bicycle ride along Barangay Capitol Site when the suspect riding a motorcycle apprehended him for an unknown reason.

The holdupper pulled out a gun and pointed it at Yorpo. However, the cop fought back and cornered the thief who tried to steal his mobile phone. The policeman confiscates a .38 caliber revolver containing five bullets from the suspect.

Yorpo is a policeman assigned at Mandaue City Police Office. The culprit is currently under the custody of police authorities. He will face theft charges.
