EARTHQUAKE CHINA DEATH TOLL – State media reported the current death count due to the recent quake that hit Southwestern China.

The Kangding City in Sichuan, China was recently hit by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake. It led to the loss of lives and damages in structures in the Southwestern parts of the country. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, as of this writing, state media has reported at least 46 deaths due to the quake. Seventeen of it were recorded in Ya’an city while 29 people lost their lives in Ganzi Prefecture. CCTV said that 16 people are currently missing and 50 were left injured by the quake. EARTHQUAKE CHINA – A 6.6 magnitude quake jolted parts of Southwestern China causing strong shaking that led to damages in structures.

Quakes are among the natural calamities that can hardly be predicted. Experts across the globe stand in a common ground that earthquakes cannot be specifically predicted as to its intensity, when it will hit a certain place(s), and the extent of the damages it can cause.

Every country has its own agency that record quake events. In the Philippines, it is the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology or more commonly called “Phivolcs”. Across the globe, US Geological Survey also makes record of the quake events.

Recently. reports about Earthquake China crossed the surface. It had a magnitude of 6.6 that led to the loss of lives and damages in structures.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the US Geological Survey recorded the 6.6 magnitude earthquake China in the Southwestern part of the country. It hit the city of Kangding in the province of Sichuan.

The US Geological Survey recorded the quake’s epicenter at about 43 kilometers southeast of Kangding. Deaths were recorded in several areas including Ya’an city and there are also reports of missing individuals.

The strong quake led to the damages in structures. Based on the report. Chen, a resident of Chengdu, said that she felt it “strongly”. With Chengdu being under epidemic management that does not allow the people to leave their homes, many of them rushed to the courtyards instead.

The 6.6 magnitude quake led to landslide in at least one town in Southwestern China. There is also at least one blocked road and telecommunication lines in several areas are currently unavailable due to the damages caused by the quake.
