Hardworking Guy Who Becomes Family’s First Degree Holder, Graduates Summa Cum Laude & Becomes Board Topnotcher
DAVAO DEL NORTE – A hardworking guy named Jonathan Agullana graduated as Summa Cum Laude and becomes a board topnothcer.
Jonathan Agullana is the seventh of eight siblings to a farmer dad and housewife mom. In 2015, the family moved to Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, and failed to enroll at the state college because he wasn’t able to take the entrance exam.
Initially, Agullana thought that he couldn’t go to college due to their situation. However, his parents searched for the cheapest private college and enrolled Jonathan using borrowed money.
Agullana enrolled at Data Center College of the Philippines of Laoag City Inc. and do his best to get a scholarship knowing that his parents were just farmers. He took a course in Bachelor of Elementary Education.
“Kaya lang ginawan ito ng paraan ng aking mga magulang. Umutang sila para lang may pang-enroll ako sa isang private college offering the cheapest tuition fee, Napakasuwerte ko to have very supportive parents,” Agullana said.
Luckily, the student was able to get a CHED (Commission on Higher Education) scholarship. He also get high grades and graduated summa cum laude from his course.

After graduation, when he needed to study for the board examinations, his parents once more borrowed money. However, but the licensure exam has been rescheduled several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Jonathan’s parents eventually pay off after the hardworking guy ranked in the top 10 when he took the LET (Licensure Examination for Teachers) last November 2021.
