G Tongi On PBBM’s First SONA: ‘It’s not a fashion show’

G Tongi shared a post on Twitter about PBBM’s first SONA

Actress G Tongi stressed in her Twitter post on July 25 thT the first State of the Nation address of President Bongbong Marcos is not supposed to be a fashion show.

Over the years, the SONAs of Presidents have become a showcase of designer gowns and barongs. Before the actual event, politicians and spouses of politicians are being noticed for their outfit. Apparently, it has become a tradition in media people’s part to ask the attendees who they are wearing.

Perhaps this is the reason why G Tongi perceived that for some people, this event has become a fashion show. In her Twitter post on Monday, she reminded the Filipinos that the SONA is beyond other people’s perception that this is an event to showcase beautiful outfits.

“Please PH! It’s called delicadeza. Today is not about a fashion show ok? Today is about thinking critically about issues that have never been addressed that are owed to the Filipino people. A president of any nation has to serve the people and not their self interest,” the actress tweeted.

To recall, G is one of the artists in the Philippines who criticized President Bongbong Marcos during the election period. Just recently, her name became a trending topic on social media because of how she answered the viral “history is like chismis” remark of Maid in Malacanang actress Ella Cruz.

G slammed the younger actress for taking the side of the Marcoses. She even stressed that she was there when the political family was forced to leave the Palace following the People Power Revolution. At the age of 8, G Tongi said that she was already fighting against Marcos regime.

Because of what she said, netizens recalled an article stating that she and her mother started living in the Philippines when she was 15 years old. However, G Tongi belied what was written in the said article.
