Cops Arrest 2 Holdup Suspects After Culprit Accidentally Shoots Himself
SANTA BARABARA, ILOILO – Two holdup suspects have been arrested after one of them accidentally shoots himself.
Nowadays, robbery has been one of the major problems not only in the Philippines but also in various regions all around the world. Some criminals have no choice but to commit crimes due to lack of job opportunities.
The Philippine government is implementing stricter policy but the crimes continue to exist behind the knowledge of the authorities. The rate of criminality continue to increase despite the stricter rules and regulations.
The police authorities were able to arrest two holdup suspects for victimizing a gasoline station in Santa Barbara, Iloilo. The suspects went to the gasoline station in Barangay Balibagan Este and declared a holdup.
The CCTV footage captured the suspect’s illegal activity. The holduppers pulled out a gun, pointed it at the cashier, and then took the cash worth P22, 000. The two were supposed to escape using a motorcycle when one of the thieves accidentally shot himself.
“Pag-conduct ng investigation, si Alex nang ilagay niya ang kanyang baril sa kanyang sling bag ay bigla itong pumutok at tinamaan ang kanyang binti,” Santa Barbara Municipal Police Station deputy Police Lieutenant Aileen Lacrite said.
The cashier positively identified the suspect at the hospital. The thieves who have been identified as Alex Alvarez and Edmarc dela Cruz, voluntarily surrendered to the authorities.
Dela Cruz admitted that he pawned his motorcycle after losing to gambling. He and his colleague decided to engage in illegal activity to earn money. The two will face corresponding charges.
