IKAW MUNA PILIPINAS – The group shifted their support from Manila Mayor Isko Moreno‘s presidential bid to Vice Pres. Leni Robredo‘s candidacy.
The May 9 Elections are fast-approaching and both the local and national election campaigns are currently on the run. The candidates are dealing with busy schedules in the pursuit to be able to campaign to as many Filipinos as they can before the campaign period is over.
Several political groups, organizations, celebrities, and even private individuals have pledged their support to certain candidates in the upcoming poll. There are 10 candidates vying for the presidency in the upcoming election.
Amid several groups becoming vocal about the candidates they are supporting and campaigning for them, there are also shifts of support. Recently, Ikaw Muna Pilipinas confirmed that they are shifting their support from the presidential bid of Manila Mayor Isko Moreno to Vice Pres. Leni Robredo’s bid.
Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Ikaw Muna Pilipinas lead convenor Nick Malazarte stressed that only Vice Pres. Leni Robredo will have the chance to prevent the comeback of the Marcoses to power. She is in the 2nd spot in the latest Pulse Asia survey.
“If we believe that Yorme (Moreno) is the best, we have somebody better (Robredo) because the alternative is the worst, who is BBM (Marcos Jr.),” the IM Pilipinas President said.
IM Pilipinas confirmed that they have already talked with the camp of Vice Pres. Robredo regarding their support of her presidential candidacy. They have also sent a letter to the campaign manager of Mayor Moreno regarding the shift of support.
Ikaw Muna Pilipinas is not the first group to shift support ahead of the Elections 2022. Political party Partido Reporma also shifted its support from presidential candidate and incumbent Senator Ping Lacson to Vice Pres. Robredo.
