Over 6 years after his wife’s death, Albert Martinez opens up about his final moments with her.
ALBERT MARTINEZ – Veteran actor Albert Martinez opens up about his struggles in the past and how losing his wife affected his life.
Former actress Liezl Martinez is the late wife of actor Albert Martinez who died in 2015 because of cancer. In 2007, the discovery of her disease was entirely accidental. She doesn’t look sick. She looks perfectly well but after a checkup, she did with Pops Fernandez, something came up from the tests and that’s where her stage 3C cancer has been found.
“Horrible,” said Albert as he opened up about this part of his life to Vicki Belo in her latest vlog. It was horrible because they were never prepared for something like that. They never knew what to do and they were in complete limbo. He never stop working and he couldn’t stop working because the whole treatment is not a cheap process. They need money to pay for her improvement but he already knew then that what they were just doing was just to make her live longer. He is well aware that cancer cannot be cured.
They tried every treatment for her. There was a time she became well but only for the disease to come back. And the second time around, Liezl ultimately decided not to receive treatment anymore. She doesn’t want to pull him down at his lowest. Albert admitted that he really struggled emotionally and financially but he could only care less for the money just as long as his wife will get better. He will do everything for her and he did.
All throughout the journey, he was in denial because he wanted to believe that she will get better. He will give anything for her recovery. He believed then that she will still recover.
