Here’s what close friends of Toni Gonzaga said about her decision to quit as PBB main host.
TONI GONZAGA – Multimedia star Toni Gonzaga quits as PBB’s main host, Mariel Padilla and Bianca Gonzales have this reaction.
In a previous article, Kapamilya superstar and host, Toni Gonzaga, ends her journey as the main host of the reality show Pinoy Big Brother (PBB). She’s been the main host of the reality show for 16 years and quit just right after she appeared as the host of the proclamation rally presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos and vice-presidential aspirant Sara Duterte on February 8.
“Tapos na, may nanalo na, tapos ang laban. Buhay na buhay ang pagmamahal kay Apo Lakay Ferdinand Marcos,” expressed Gonzaga during the rally when she introduced the late dictator’s son aspiring to become the country’s chief executive. Celebrities like Ynez Veneracion, Njel de Mesa, Karla Estrada,D ulce, Robert Seña, Isay Alvarez, Wency Cornejo, and Randy Santiago were also present.
Several personalities, former employees, and current employees of the network she was in lambasted her for her betrayal when introduced and expressed support to Marcoleta. He was the one who spearheaded the closedown of the Kapamilya network which left over 11,000 people jobless amid the pandemic.
And now, amid all the backlash, she announced leaving the said reality show, the show she mainly hosted since 2005. On Wednesday, February 9, she “voluntarily endorsed” hosting duties to her co-host Bianca Gonzalez.
She said in her official statement as she announced her decision to step down, “It has been my greatest honor to host PBB for 16 years. Today, I’m stepping down as your main host. I know Bianca and the rest of the hosts will continue to PBB legacy.”
In her post, two of the iconic hosts of PBB, Mariel Padilla and Bianca, who eventually became her close friends and whose friendship goes beyond the camera, expressed love for her decision. Mariel commented, “I love you toni. You are a friend and a sister FOREVER ❤️ welcome to the outside world, toni.”
Mariel believed their “friendship goes beyond work, beyond religion, beyond politics… beyond it all” and expressed support for Bianca. Meanwhile, Bianca, on her part, quipped, “Nobody can ever take your place and do it like you.”
