Lady Cop Earns Praises Online After Sacrificing Herself to Save Student From Speeding Car
HEROIC ACT – A lady cop sacrificed herself and pushed a student just to save it from a speeding car in Cecil County.
Last week, Cpl. Annette Goodyear is guiding the students outside a middle school in Cecil County as a part of her duty. She is wearing her neon orange crossing guard jacket.
The crossing guard instructed the vehicles along the road to stop as one student tried to cross the road. However, the car suddenly came speeding through while the kid is walking in the center of the crosswalk.
The brave guard pushed the student and put herself in front of the car just to save the kid. She was struck by the car and suffered minor injuries due to the incident. The car driver stopped and helped the cop.
“Out of the corner of my eye, I just see this blur, Everything just happened so quickly, It just didn’t seem real. I could feel the pain in my knees and my arms hitting the hood of the car,” Goodyear said.
Goodyear said that it took her several seconds to realize that she was struck by a car and just remember laying on the ground. The cop first thought of the student who was luckily unharmed after the incident.
Annette said that the student came back to check her and panicked after witnessing the accident. The lady cop was brought to the hospital after suffering minor injuries but was dismissed after a few days after she fully recovered. After her release, she searched for the student to check her condition.
Goodyear is the first female officer of the North East Police Department and serving as a crossing guard for 14 years. It was her first time to witness a car close to the crosswalk.
The driver was cited for numerous traffic violations, including negligent driving.
