Here’s what Gil Cuerva shared months after his private video surfaced online.
Kapuso actor Gil Cuerva has this to share about trauma months after his private video with a woman circulated online.
Previously, the private videos of four actors, known as the “Big Four” at the time, created a loud buzz online. These actors were Arron Villaflor, Nikko Natividad, Ron Angeles, and Gil Cuerva, and later on, more famous personalities followed.

Cuerva had issued an official statement before, admitting to the video. According to him, it was recorded without his knowledge or consent. He stressed that sharing the video was illegal and a serious violation of his privacy, which may be considered a crime.
How did the issue affect him?
He did not speak directly about it, but he lamented the double standard of society in men.
“There are certain cases na hindi naman kasalanan ng lalaki, but because people like to assume agad, you’re painted in a bad light,” the actor said, adding that it’s easier for the public to cancel men than women even without knowing the full and real story.
Based on the reactions of the people online, even though they were the victims, they were still blamed.
“But if you look at it, yung reaction ng mga tao, parang may victim-blaming pa din, e, because we’re guys. Parang, ‘O, ginusto mo naman yan.’ Parang, ‘Di ka kasi nag-ingat,’” he said.
What bothered him most was being judged over the issue, especially since people seemed to downplay the trauma he experienced. According to him, many did not understand what he went through, so he chose to handle the situation with grace and dignity, as he moved on with his life.
