Duterte Visits Wake Of “Hero Cop” Slain In School Explosion In Misamis Oriental
DUTERETE – President Rodrigo Duterte visited the wake of the “hero cop” that was slain in the school explosion in Misamis Oriental.
On Thursday (November 29, 2019), the grenade blast happened at the town of Initao in Misamis Oriental immediately spread like a wildfire online. Two died while 17 others were wounded in the grenade incident.
The suspect Ibrahim Bashies was going amok inside Initao College while holding a grenade, which causes fear and panic inside the campus. The man terrorizing the school also wrestled with the authorities.
Police Master Sgt. Jason Magno attempted to arrest and take the grenade from Ibrahim’s hand but the suspect removed the pin and threw the explosive leading to an explosion. Magno died after trying to protect the students from the explosion.
According to an article from ABS-CBN, the family of Magno received a posthumous Medal of Valor. This was to honor the slain policeman.
Along with this, the order of Lapu-Lapu Magalong Medal was also given by the President. One of Magno’s children stated that they are proud of their father, even though what they’re going through is hard.
Police Master Sgt. Jason Magno will be buried on Saturday, Dec. 7. In addition, Duterte also gave a visit to Police SMSgt. Alice Balido who got wounded in the explosion.
The officer was bestowed upon an Order of Lapu-Lapu Kampilan Medal. Along with this, cash assistance, a watch, a cellphone, and a new firearm.
