DOLE To Give One-Time Cash Aid for Displaced Workers under Alert Level 3
DOLE – The Department of Labor and Employment is set to start accepting applications for the P5,000 cash aid for displaced workers in Metro Manila on Monday.
Metro Manila is currently under Alert Level 3 until the end of January due to another spike in the COVID-19 cases. After the holidays, several cities in the capital region started recording higher daily cases of coronavirus and it prompted the government to implement stricter curbs.
Supposedly, the capital region will be under Alert Level 3 until January 15 but the cases have yet to decline thus the authorities decided to extend it until the end of the month. Amid the stricter curbs, several workers in Metro Manila lost their jobs.
In the case of some employees, they have lesser income due to shortened working hours or alternate employment schemes amid the restrictions on business operations.
To aid the displaced workers in Metro Manila amid the implementation of Alert Level 3, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will be giving a one-time cash aid to the workers who lost their job. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, it is under the COVID Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) of the labor department.
DOLE will start accepting applications for the P5,000.00 cash aid for the displaced workers amid the implementation of the Alert Level 3 on Monday. According to the report, it is open for all workers regardless they are regular, casual, contractual, or even probationary period at work when they lost their job. It is also open for employees hired through agencies.
The Labor Department is encouraging employers to be the ones to process the cash assistance for their displaced workers. The cash aid application will be accepted at reports.dole.gov.ph beginning Monday.
