Father Joseph Roura Elicits Reactions Online for Including “Pamumulitika” in Homily
Viral father Joseph Roura elicited reactions online for allegedly including “pamumulitika” in his homily showing his support to a certain candidate.
Roura’s mass, which is well-known on social media, has become contentious, as it was supposed to be for Simbang Gabi, but it appears to be about politics. During his Mass, the parish priest of San Jose del Monte Bulacan’s Quasi-Parish of Our Lady of La Salette Muzon addressed the candidate known as ‘lugaw,’ saying that the accusation was weak.
“Lugaw ka, lugaw ka, lugaw ka. Solid blank blank blank kami,” said the priest as he seemed to be making fun of what a group was doing that was allegedly mocking the said candidate.

Roura questions why the said candidate can’t be called “magnanaw” or “kurakot” and is only referred to as “lugaw.” Because there may be nothing to observe about the candidate, people will only be able to say ‘lugaw’.
“Ganon ang taong may integridad, wasakin man ng iba hindi mawawasak dahil buo na siya. Ang tyanta ko nga, kahit matalo ang kandidato hindi niya iindahin talaga dahil buo na siya,” said Roura.
He went on to say that the candidate would be disappointed if he lost to this “lugaw” contender. This candidate will almost certainly be sad, but not for himself, but for the “Filipino people.”
It also appears to be having an effect on another candidate who is accused of ignoring the allegations leveled against him. He did say, however, that this candidate will be disappointed in her loss because she is a strong woman.
“Pero it’s either naman na dalawa ito, katulad ng sinasabi kong kandidato hindi siya nagre-react dahil hindi siya apektado o ‘yung naiisip niyo na kandidato hindi nagre-react kasi alam niyang totoo,” the priest said.
Some internet users have deduced that the priest is referring to Vice President Leni Robredo. Robredo has been dubbed ‘lugaw’ on social media after claiming that porridge provided a portion of the finances he utilized during his vice-presidential campaign.
Meanwhile, some speculate that former Senator Bongbong Marcos is another possibility named by Roura because the latter is known for ignoring critics. Marcos Jr. dismisses all allegations made in the criminal case, including that he is a drug user.
Some netizens were disappointed with what Roura, who is well-known on social media, did because of his inspirational messages. Some, however, defended Roura, claiming that the priest had the right to publicly voice his beliefs.
