Meanwhile, Bautista is a Brigadier General in the National Capital Region’s 1502nd RRIBde. The elimination of such reservists is part of Lt. Gen. Andres Centino’s intention of making the soldiers non-partisan in the 2022 elections.

He instructed units and personnel to shun party politics, preserve professionalism, and refrain from sharing images or films depicting political gestures. Centeno assures the people that the military, as a professional organization, would remain non-partisan and fulfill its responsibility of ensuring fair elections.

Soldiers and law enforcement agencies are prohibited from engaging in any partisan political activity, including campaigning for any candidate, under the Omnibus Election Code. The reservists were occupying these roles when they were freed of their duties, according to the Army, but they will continue in the reserve force.

Like them, Col. has also been removed as a reservist. Isidro Ungab who is a congressional candidate in the 3rd District of Davao, Lt. Col Eugene Balitang who is running for Ifugao representative, Lt. Col. Jayvee Tyron Uy who is running for vice governor in Davao de Oro, and Lt. Col. Rhodora Cadiao running governor of Antique.
