Nurse Faces 10 Years Jail Time After Assaulting Disabled Female Patient at Health Care Facility
LOS ANGELES – A male nurse in the US state of Arizona has been jailed for impregnating his disabled female patient.
The health worker identified as Nathan Sutherland reportedly assaulted his 29-year-old female patient at the facility in Phoenix. The authorities hide the name of the victim for her own protection.
The victim had been cared at the facility since she was three. The family revealed that the woman has a mental disability and suffering from seizures early in her childhood. She could not speak but was able to move some parts of her body.
“She does not speak but has some ability to move her limbs, head and neck, their daughter responds to sound and is able to make facial gestures. The important thing is that she is a beloved daughter, albeit with significant intellectual disabilities,” the attorney said in a statement.
Phonix court sentenced Sutherland of 10 years imprisonment for committing such crime. He will be registered as an offender and will be subject to lifetime supervision.
In December 20219, the lady victim gives birth to healthy baby as a result of the crime. The health care center employees had no idea that the young lady is pregnant lady until she gave birth.
The center conduct DNA testing from samples of male employees and the result revealed that Sutherland was the baby’s biological father. Initially, the suspect denied the responsibility but eventually admitted it.
The suspect has been working at the institution since 2012.
