Bongbong Marcos Statement On Sara’s Rumored Run For National Office

Bongbong Marcos reacted to the possibility that Sara Duterte will run for a national position

The camp of presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos released this statement regarding the rumored run of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte for a national position.

This came after the decision of the presidential daughter to withdraw her candidacy for mayor. Prior to and during the period of filing the certificate of candidacy (COC), many supporters of Mayor Sara have been urging her to run for president.

Several times, she turned down this call as she already filed her COC for reelection. However, on November 9, she withdrew her candidacy, which is not so surprising for many, and announced that Sebastian ‘Baste’ Duterte will be her replacement.

In a recent interview, Representative Joey Salcedo, a known close friend of Sara Duterte, said that the presidential daughter has been eyeing the presidential position. On the other hand, there had been speculations saying that the Davao City Mayor will run as vice president under Bongbong Marcos. However, Salceda said that vice president was not an option for Mayor Sara.

In a recent report from The Philippine Star, Vic Rodriguez, the spokesperson of BBM said that the presidential aspirant is respecting the possible decision of the Davao City Mayor to run for a national office.

“Such idea deserves respect and any comments for or against it is very inappropriate. Let us all wait for what her decision would be,” BBM’s spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, when asked about the second petition that was filed against the candidacy of the presidential aspirant, Rodriguez said that this is a “nuisance case”, according to “known and respected law experts from the law universities of Ateneo and UST”.
