Bongbong Marcos On Petition Against His Candidacy: ‘Hindi ako natatakot’

Bongbong Marcos reacted to the effort of lawmakers to cancel his presidential candidacy

Presidential aspirant Bongbong Marcos said that he is not afraid of the petition against his candidacy that was filed by representatives from different party lists.

Several presidential survey results showed that the son of former President Ferdinand Marcos is on the top spot. This came after Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte reiterated that she would not run for president. The presidential daughter also showed support for BBM’s candidacy.

As the election season is just around the corner, the political arena is heating up. Representatives from Balay, PH Alliance of Human Rights Advocates, KAPATID, Task Force Detainees of PH, Medical Action Group, and FIND urged the Commission on Election (Comelec) to nullify the presidential candidacy of Bongbong Marcos.

The lawmakers cited BBM’s tax evasion conviction back in 1995. Following this, Marcos’s spokesperson Vic Rodriguez called this attempt a “predictable nuisance” and said that they will answer this issue in a proper forum.

Based on the recent Twitter posts of PTV reporter Daniel Manalastas, the presidential aspirant was asked about this matter in an interview on RMN “

Pero hindi ako natatakot, hindi ako aatras, hindi ako mag-withdraw,” the former Senator stressed. He added that he will continue what he is doing and that he would not slide down. He will still continue his candidacy and thanked all his supporters. “Nagpapasalamat ako na hindi nawawala ang inyong tiwala sa akin,” the presidential aspirant said.

Bongbong Marcos admitted that he has no full knowledge of what his detractors said, as of now. “E may isang kaso raw na hindi naayos, hindi ko alam, sasagutin na lang namin ito pagdating,” he said.

As of this writing, BBM has not announced yet if who will be his running mate or his senatorial line-up.
