Buboy Fernandez Predicts KO in Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas Fight
MANNY PACQUIAO – Restituto “Buboy” Fernandez, Manny Pacquiao’s childhood friend and trusted trainer said Pacman is a lot faster and stronger than Yordenis Ugas.
For the first time in 2019, Filipino professional boxer and senator Manny Pacquiao will step foot inside the ring once more on Saturday (Sunday Manila time). His comeback was initially a showdown with American boxer Errol Spence Jr. but he withdraws from his fight with Pacman due to a torn retina in his eye.
Following the news that Spence won’t be able to participate in his title defense against the 42-year-old boxer, 35-year-old ex-Olympian Yordenis Ugas was called on short notice to replace Spence.
Yordenis Ugas said he’s honored to fight Manny Pacquiao and he is “more than ready to take on this challenge.” The two fighters recently meet during a media conference in Las Vegas.
The legendary boxer was accompanied by his trainers Freddie Roach, and Buboy Fernandez along with conditioning coach Justine Fortune. Ugas has 3 inches height advantage and 2 inches reach advantage on Pacquiao.
During their meeting, Pacquiao refused to look Ugas in the eye. The Filipino boxer is known to being respectful towards his opponents.
Boxing figure and now vice Mayor of Polangui, Albay Buboy Fernadez was interviewed during the final press conference of the Pacquiao-Ugas fight on Wednesday at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Based on a report from Philstar, the trainer said Pacman is a lot faster and stronger than Ugas and predicted it will end via knockout. He said the Pinoy pride will have an opponent who loves to engage and stand toe-to-toe.
“Not unless hindi kaya dalhin ni Ugas yung lakas ng ating Pambansang Kamao… miss na miss na natin yung hindi tumatakbo ang kalaban…”
“Kaya tumbahan ito. Sigurado yan,” he added.
According to the report, the Fighting senator, in a dark gray suit, did not say anything about knockout but said that he’s happy to be back in the ring again after a 2-year absence. “I’m just happy doing this… I feel young,” he said.
