“It’s Okay to Not Be Okay” lead stars, Anne Curtis and Joshua Garcia have this to say about defying age expectations in their series.

The official trailer of the “It’s Okay To Not Be Okay” PH adaptation starring Anne Curtis, Joshua Garcia, and Carlo Aquino has finally been released. In the original South Korean version, the lead stars’ ages were almost the same; however, in the PH adaptation, there’s a significant age gap between Curtis and Garcia in real life.

Many people have pointed this out in several posts, as the thought of their age gap has somehow affected their perception; however, it doesn’t negate the fact of how promising the series is.

Recently, in an interview, Garcia and Curtis spoke about defying age expectations, and according to them, there is more to casting expectations in the series. The actress shared that her character has an antisocial personality disorder, but is not aware of her own condition. While the original one is more playful, their take in the PH adaptation is stronger.

There was pressure with the expectations set by the people, but they pleaded with the viewers to watch it with fresh eyes, as they promised to give a different experience.

As for Garcia, to be paired with Curtis was a surprising thing for him. He was excited to work with her, but chose to silence the noise surrounding them, just like what he did when he was paired with Jodi Sta. Maria.

They are aware of the comments about their age, but Curtis shared that they were told by the management and the directors that the characters are ageless.

She shared, “It’s just that our viewers are seeing me as Anne Curtis and Josh as Joshua Garcia. That’s why when you watch it, you remove who we are and you go into the world of Mia, Patrick, and Matthew. So you have to remove who we are in real life.”

Previously, a poster for the series was released, and it will be launched on July 18. According to Netflix, the story is about “an author with severe antisocial tendencies learns to confront her deep emotional wounds when she meets a stranger who challenges her cold façade.”
