Hidilyn Diaz Receives House & Lot in Tagaytay
HIDILYN DIAZ – Olympic champion Hidilyn Diaz has received the brand new two-story house promised to her by the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC).
Weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz is the first Filipino to bring home the Gold Medal from the world’s most famous sports competition, the Olympics. The Philippines has been trying to win it for the last 97 years.
The ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic made it hard for Hidilyn to train. She and her team were stuck in Malaysia for months due to the lockdown restrictions. They had limited access to gyms and were forced to be creative.
Hidilyn Diaz has shared on social media that she struggled with funding her training. In a previous article, a video of the athlete training with a bamboo pole and makeshift weights went viral on social media.
Now, Diaz became a household name after her win at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. She also received a huge amount of money and 2 houses for winning the Philippines’ first-ever gold.
In a previous article, 1996 Olympic silver medalist Onyok Velasco revealed something about pledges to him following the flooding of rewards for Diaz. He said he also received the same special treatment but he wasn’t able to receive those pledges.

Hidilyn Diaz’s two-story house in Tagaytay has a modern minimalistic design. Aside from the house, she also received a condominium in Eastwood City and a house and lot from Century Properties.
“Siyempre sobrang thankful ako. Siyempre, una kay God. Thankful ako sa lahat ng mga Pilipino. Thankful sa nagbigay ng.. ‘yung unexpected blessing na binigay sa amin…”
“Sa totoo lang, as an athlete… ito ‘yung goal namin, manalo ng gold para sa Pilipinas. And we did not expect anything after winning sa Tokyo 2020 Olympics,” she added.
