HIDILYN DIAZ – A throwback video of Filipina athlete Hidilyn Diaz training using only makeshift equipment went viral on social media.
On Monday, July 26, weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz won the first Olympic gold medal for the Philippines. The athlete ended the country’s 97-year Olympic drought.
The 30-year-old weightlifter will be rewarded for her historic win. Hidilyn is set to rake a total of P40.5 million and has also been offered two homes.
After Hidilyn Diaz’s historic achievement, social media sites exploded with congratulatory messages. People recognize her hard work, determination, and sacrifice to become Philippines’ first Olympic gold medalist.

The clip shows the Pinay Olympian using a bamboo stick, resistance bands, and 2 heavy gym bags as her makeshift barbell to train for the prestigious international game. Her dedication really is an inspiration to many.
