Pinay weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz will receive this huge amount of money after she won a gold medal in the 2020 Olympic Games.
The Filipina athlete once again brought pride to the Philippines. Another gold medal was added to her collection after training so hard to make it to the Olympics this year.
Based on the article in the Philippine Entertainment Portal, Hidilyn Diaz is set to receive cash reward with a possible amount of Php33 million.
It was stated under Republic Act (R.A.) No. 10699 that was signed by the late President Benigno S. Aquino III in 2015, a Filipino Olympic gold will receive Php10 million, while the silver medalist will be given Php5 million and Php2 million will be for the bronze medalist.
San Miguel Corporation owner Ramon S. Ang also pledged to give Php10 million. Furthermore, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino stated last July 13 during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum webcast stated that a cash reward will be given to the gold medalist in Olympics.
Aside from this, he promised to give house and lot to athletes who will bring home a gold medal. Another Php10 million was pledged by business tycoon under the MVP Sports Foundation.
Deputy House Speaker Representative Mikee Romero, 1-PACMAN partylist representative said during the Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum webcast last July 20 that they will give Php3 million to the gold medalist.
This is the amount that is waiting for Hidilyn Diaz after she won in women’s 55-kg weightlifting event at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
