Public School Teachers to Receive P1k Incentives for World Teachers’ Day

P1k Incentives will be Given to Public School Teachers Amid World Teachers’ Day

The Department of Education (DepEd) has announced that the public school teachers will be given P1k incentives in celebration of World Teachers’ Day.

In a Facebook post on Tuesday, the Department of Education stated that President Rodrigo Duterte has approved the distribution of P1,000 to each teacher in honor of World Teachers’ Day. The incentive is part of the government’s pledge to “faithfully support our teachers for their efforts in providing outstanding education,” according to the Department of Education.

“The grant of WTDIB recognizes the vital role of our educators in addressing the challenges of the pandemic, especially in ensuring the continuity of learning,” the DepEd said.

According to the Department of Education, up to P910 million would be distributed for the World Teacher’s Day Incentive Benefit in 2021. The Department of Education will set instructions for the incentive’s distribution.

“With the ongoing preparations for School Year 2021-2022, we are grateful to our 900,000-strong teachers who have displayed their unwavering passion to serve and educate the Filipino youth,” DepEd said in a statement.

“We shall issue the corresponding guidelines on the grant of the said incentive soon,” the department added.

The WTDIB grant, which was established during the term of Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones, honors the “vital role of our educators” in facing the pandemic’s challenges, particularly in guaranteeing learning continuity. Every year on October 5th, World Teachers’ Day (WTD), also known as International Teachers Day, is commemorated.
