Recently, Vatican released a statement over Pope Francis as the Catholic leader is currently admitted in a hospital in Rome. He was set for a surgery.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Pope was admitted to Gemilli Hospital in Rome on Sunday for his intestinal surgery. It is his first time to be in the hospital since he sat as the Catholic leader in 2013.

According to spokesman Matteo Bruni, the 84-year-old Pope is scheduled for a surgery in response to symptomatic stenosis of the colon. This health condition is more common among older people and can bring abdominal pain to the person. Also, it can result to a bloated stomach, inflammation, and struggle in the bowel movement of the person.

According to the report, a few hours before he got admitted to a hospital in Rome, Pope Francis spoke to thousands of people in St. Peter’s Square and gave them a Sunday blessing. The Catholic leader also announced a trip to Budapest and Slovakia for September.

Reportedly, the Pope has his medical treatments by Gemilli Hospital which is ran by the Catholic church. A part of the medical facility’s 10th floor is reserved for the pope. Aside from his intestinal condition, the Catholic leader is also suffering from sciatica which brings pain from the lower back along the sciatic nerve to the legs.
