Pope Francis Met Woman He Slapped and Sincerely Shake Hands
Pope Francis in January met and sincerely shake hands with the woman he slapped on the hands after he was grabbed on year’s eve viral video.
In our previous reports, Pope Francis was caught on video slapping a woman’s hand. The Pontiff was greeting the devotees when suddenly, a woman yanked his hand to pull him closer.
It can be seen that the woman in the video clearly had no intention of letting go of the Pope’s hand. “The Pope was forced to slap her hand a little bit in order to get out of the way”, said the official.
The Pope apologized for his actions the following day. Not only that, but the Pontiff also denounced violence against women.
Meanwhile, after his general audience January 8, Pope Francis spoke briefly with the woman. In the photos, the two can be seen smiling at each other as they shake hands.
A priest standing near the woman appears to be acting as an interpreter. According to the report of CBCP News, the two met during what is called the “baciamano,” a time reserved for certain pilgrims to greet the pope following an audience.
Francis had apologized during his Angelus address Jan. 1 for having lost his patience with the woman the night before.
“Many times we lose our patience; me too. I apologize for yesterday’s bad example,” he said.
