DOH Says Filipino People Could Check Syringe Used for COVID-19 Vaccination as Reports of Failed Injections Circulate Online

The Department of Health (DOH) said that the Filipinos could check the syringe used for the COVID-19 vaccination due to reports of failed injections.

On Friday (July 2, 2021), the Health Department announced that they would allow the public to check the syringe used for the government’s inoculation program as reports of failed injections spread like a wildfire online.

Several netizens have been uploading video footages of some COVID-19 vaccine recipients complaining that some health employees who failed to administer the vaccines properly, according to the health undersecretary.

“Kung gusto po na ipakita ang hiringilya bago iturok at matapos iturok, amin pong susuportahan, Kung gagawin po ito ng ating mga vaccination sites para sa ikakapanatag ng loob ng ating mga kababayan, we can do that,” DOH Usec Maria Rosario Vergeire said.

Vergeire explained that those mistakes are just considered as human errors and the agency do not intend to punish anyone for forgetting to administer the vaccine properly. She also said that the agency is reorienting medical workers to minimize the errors that could not be avoided.

DOH is already investigating the reports regarding the illegal sale of COVID-19 vaccines nationwide. It also reminded the Filipinos to acquire vaccines against COVID-19 from the government only.
