The death of former President Benigno Aquino III erupted online shortly after it has been widely reported that he got hospitalized. His sisters confirmed that he died peacefully in his sleep due to renal disease secondary to diabetes. He is certainly now with his parents late Senator Benigno Aquino Jr and former president Corazon Aquino – both icons of democracy.
Kris Aquino shared that before his brother passed away, they have resolved their years-long rift. She expressed, “God blessed me, because we made our peace. That is private. I would like to keep that for myself. But I am so grateful na binigay iyon sa akin.”
And among those who expressed her condolences and sincere message because of his passing is Barbara Milano, the ex-girlfriend of the late president. In her post, she recalled how low-key and simple Noynoy is despite coming from an influential and wealthy man. And being at such stature, she never even thought that, she, an ordinary person, will get his attention.
She thanked him for the respect and help she has given her before. She also described him as someone who seems like not a child of a former president because of his low-profile life and simplicity. He would accordingly leave with only a single bodyguard, would sometimes present himself to drive, and the man who would send her food even late at night. Milano has also known him as the person who can talk for hours if the topic is all about politics.
