Statement of Justice Marvic Leonen on the Passing of Ex-President Noynoy Aquino
NOYNOY AQUINO – Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen release a statement on the passing of former President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino.
The fifteenth president of the Philippines, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino died on Thursday, June 24, 2021. He was 61.
Initial reports said that the politician was rushed to Capitol Medical Center in Quezon City early Thursday. Jose Rene Almendras and Mar Roxas were seen in the hospital.
Based on a report from CNN, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino’s sister Kris Aquino arrived at the Capitol Medical Center past 9 am. The Aquino family has yet to issue an official statement.
Supreme Court Associate Justice Marvic Leonen is saddened to learn about the passing of former President Aquino. He served as chief peace negotiator during Noynoy’s term. He appointed Leonen to the Supreme Court.
Justice Marvic Leonen today released the following statement on the passing of ex-president Noynoy Aquino:
“It is with profound sadness that I learned this morning of the passing of former President Benigno S. Aquino III. I knew him to be a kind man, driven by his passion to serve our people, diligent in his duties, and with an avid and consuming curiosity about new knowledge and the world in general. I have learned a lot from him. I saw him carry his title with dignity and integrity. It was an honor to have served with him. He will be missed.”
Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino has been largely silent and out of the public eye after he stepped down from the office. He had a long political career before he became the president.
