Here’s what Mak Tumang has revealed about the headpiece Rabiya Mateo failed to wear in the Miss Universe pageant.
RABIYA MATEO – Famous designer Mak Tumang reveals something about the headpiece of Rabiya Mateo and stylist Rain Dagala has this reaction.
For a time amid the Miss Universe 2020 pageant, the national costume of PH delegate Rabiya Mateo was put under fire due to some missing details. To recall, she wore a blue and red outfit inspired by the Philippines flag. The long tail has been cut and the headpiece made by Bulacan-based jeweler Manny Halasan was not worn.
Halasan shared that he was shocked to not see his creation during the pageant but accepted that it is probably not yet the time for it to be included in the said prestigious competition. In a previous article, Rabiya’s stylist Rain Dagala clarified that the total weight of the overall outfit of Rabiya for the national competition was too heavy for her to walk down the stage. Thus, they chose to cut down some details for her comfort.
The stylist shared that the skirt weighed 20 kilograms, the pair of wings alone is 21 to 25 kilograms, and the headpiece was 15 kilograms. This statement of the stylist circulated online but designer Mak Tumang made some revelations about the headdress. Accordingly, the headpiece is just three kilograms and told the people online to not spread fake details.
In a reply, Dagala explained and clarified himself that he has not intended to spread fake news. Those were the figures that accordingly got stuck on his head and he takes responsibility if he got the wrong details released to the public. But the point, as per his view, is that the piece was too heavy that they decided to drop it out for the comfort of Rabiya.
