Here’s what Catriona Gray after Rabiya Mateo apologized
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray reacted to the apology of Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo over her performance in the National Costume competition.
After the competition on May 14 (PH time), Rabiya did a quick social media live to apologized to those who felt disappointed by her performance but she said that she did her best as the representative of the Philippines.
She also thanked in her emotional live session those who keep on showing support and cheering her for the pageant. In a previous article, many pageant fans wondered why Rabiya did not wear her headpiece and so they felt that her costume was incomplete.
Some speculated that it was because of the restrictions under the Philippine Flag law as her costume was inspired by this national symbol. On the other hand, Miss Universe Philippines national director Shamcey Supsup explained that Rabiya Mateo was not able to wear her headpiece because she was not comfortable with it.
In a recent Twitter post of One News PH, it showed the statement of Rabiya during her social media live. Aside from apologizing, she also mentioned how difficult it was for her to wear her national costume. However, behind the pressure she managed to smile before the audience and the judges and she was happy upon hearing the cheers for her.
The statement of Rabiya Mateo saying that she was sorry to those who were disappointed received a reaction from Catriona Gray. She said that the Ilongga beauty queen does not need to apologize.
“Rabiya Mateo does not need to apologize! She worked that stage and PER-FORMED. National Costume is a segment to celebrate culture and country’s identity but isn’t a part of the scoring towards the crown. Kaya Laban lang Queen!” the Miss Universe 2018 said.
