Young Boy Trapped Inside Water-Filled Culvert Rescued by Concerned Residents
A young boy was rescued after getting trapped inside a water-filled culvert in Purok Kapatagan, Barangay San Manuel, Puerto Princesa City.
According to residents, the child entered the culvert with several friends to swim and pass through the structure. However, he became stuck inside and was unable to get out on his own.
The situation became dangerous as water continued to flow through the culvert, making it harder for him to escape.

Concerned residents immediately rushed to help after learning that the boy was trapped. Working together, they managed to pull him out of the culvert. At that point, the child had already swallowed a huge amount of water and appeared to be in critical condition.
Several men took turns performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to save his life. They continued the life-saving procedure without stopping until the boy finally expelled the water he had swallowed and regained consciousness.
The teamwork of the residents and the quick response played an important role in successful rescue. After the boy regained consciousness, he was immediately taken to the nearest hospital for further medical observation and treatment to ensure that he was fully out of danger.
Residents later informed the boy’s mother about the incident. Community members also shared that children are often seen playing in the area despite repeated warnings about the risks.
Local residents explained that the culvert can become especially dangerous when seawater levels rise, causing stronger water flow through the passage. Because of this, they have repeatedly reminded children to stay away from the area.
Authorities have also urged parents to closely watch their children and prevent them from playing in hazardous locations.
