Sorsogon City Announces Work & Class Suspension on Monday Afternoon
#WALANGPASOK – Sorsogon City has declared work and class suspension for Monday due to the effects of Typhoon Bising.
Typhoon Surigae or locally known as “Bising” was last spotted at 235 km East Northeast of Virac, Catanduanes or 360 km East of Daet, Camarines Norte. It has maximum sustained winds of 195 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 240 kph.
Bising brings inclement weather condition in various areas across the country. The weather disturbance is expected to bring cloudy conditions and heavy rains over most par4ts of the Philippines especially over Bicol Region, Northern Samar, Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran and the northern portion of Leyte.
On Monday afternoon (April 19, 2021), Sorsogon province spokesperson Dong Mendoza has announced the suspension of work in public and private offices as well as online class in both public and private schools.
Mendoza said that the work and class cancellations would take effect in Pilar, Gubat, Barcelona, and Bulusan towns and Sorsogon City due to the effects of the typhoon as Bicol region experienced moderate to heavy rains.
However, private companies have still the authority to suspend the work for private companies and offices.

Agencies who work are related to basic health and disaster preparedness and response are excluded from the announcement.
