PAGASA Raises Signal No. 1 Over 14 Areas As Typhoon Bising Intensifies

PAGASA Releases Latest Weather Update for Saturday (April 17)

The state weather bureau PAGASA raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 over 14 areas as Typhoon Bising intensifies.

On Saturday (April 17, 2021), the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration released the latest weather updates in the country. Typhoon Bising would continue to affect the country’s weather condition.

PAGASA reported that Typhoon Bising has been last located at 705 kilometers east of Surigao City. Bising has maximum sustained winds of 175 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 215 kph moving 20 kph at a west northwest direction.

Bising would bring moderate to heavy with at times intense rains over Eastern Visayas, Sorsogon, Masbate, Albay, Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, and Camotes Islands. Cloudy conditions with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms are expected over Eastern Visayas, Caraga, and Davao Region.

The localized thunderstorms would bring partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers over Metro Manila and the remaining parts of the country.

The weather agency also raised Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 1 in the following areas:

  • Central and eastern portions of Sorsogon
  • Eastern portion of Albay
  • Eastern portion of Camarines Sur (Presentacion, Caramoan, Garchitorena)
  • Catanduanes
  • Northern Samar
  • Samar
  • Eastern Samar
  • Biliran
  • Leyte
  • Southern Leyte
  • Camotes Islands, Cebu
  • Dinagat Islands
  • Surigao del Norte (including Siargao and Bucas Grande Islands)
  • Surigao del Sur

Meanwhile, the coastal water conditions over the eastern seaboards of Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Caraga and Davao Region would be rough to very rough. All types of sea travel remains risky due to the weather disturbance.
