Ria Atayde Had Spine Operation, Admitted Fear Of Getting Paralyzed

Ria Atayde shared this information about her health

Actress Ria Atayde underwent a spine operation as she admitted that she is afraid that she might get paralyzed if her condition will get worse.

Last year, Ria was diagnosed with a spine herniated disc. Knowing about her condition, the daughter of veteran actress Sylvia Sanchez tried to do everything that she can in order to avoid undergoing surgery.

However, Ria was recommended by her doctor to go for the surgery, based on the article by Boy Abunda in Pilipino Star Ngayon.

“From the start pa lang, sinabihan na ako that surgery would be my option. For a while it was working, tapos I hit a point na hindi na ako makatayo. Hindi na ako makaupo nang maayos,” the actress shared.

As her condition worsened, she consulted eight doctors before she finally decided to take the operation. She shared that two out of eight doctors who she asked told her to postpone the operation but six of them advised her to do what was first recommended.

The actress shared that she was told this alarming statement about her health, “‘You need it or else there’s tendency na puwede ka maging paralyzed or you will reach a point na you can’t control your bladder, internal organs. I was like, ‘Oh my God, really?’ I did pa rin therapy kaso nga this February sobrang lala.”

Ria Atayde underwent an operation last April 3. She shared that her family would say that she was walking like a “lola” but she has not noticed that.

One of the reasons that pushed Ria to undergo operation was her desire to continue doing her acting stints. She said that she will not be able to do this if she is not feeling well.
