NCR Plus: Healthcare Professionals React To Lowering Quarantine Measure

NCR Plus Reduced to Modified ECQ

NCR PLUS – Healthcare professionals reacted to the move of lowering the community quarantine measure in the National Capital Region (NCR) and the provinces of Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal.

The Philippines is one of the countries hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic shaking the healthcare system. This coronavirus disease was recorded in over 200 countries and territories across the globe and is currently the biggest challenge a lot of nations are facing.

It has been a year now since the pandemic started. Recently, the Philippines experienced another spike of the COVID-19 cases in the country. It is recording at least 5,000 new cases of the disease daily for several days now.

The high records prompted the government to place the National Capital Region (NCR) under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ). The provinces of Bulacan, Laguna, Rizal, and Cavite were also placed under ECQ.

Amid the ECQ, many Filipino parents and breadwinners are struggling on what to put on the table. The national government released assistance to those who are greatly affected by the strictest community quarantine measure.

After 2 weeks of ECQ, the national government downgraded the community quarantine measure in NCR Plus to Modified ECQ. However, healthcare professionals believe that it should have been extended for two (2) more weeks.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Healthcare Professional Alliance Against COVID-19 member Dr. Maricar Limpin expressed that their group believes that the removal of some restrictions following the easing of the quarantine measure to MECQ may put risk on the transmission of the disease in PH.

According to the report, the Palace justified its decision saying that the ECQ has paved the way for more beds in hospitals. Dr. Limpin, stressing that she is in the hospital and she witnesses the situation, said that hospitals are filled up and emergency rooms are catering more than 100% capacity.

PH vaccine czar Carlito Galvez Jr. said they’re already preparing for another spike in the middle of 2021. Currently, the vaccination drive is ongoing and the healthcare workers are the top priority in the ladder.
