Duterte Speaks About Philippines’ “Purchased” COVID-19 Vaccines

Pres. Duterte Reacts to Queries About the COVID-19 Vaccines that PH Purchased

DUTERTE – Philippine President Rodrigo Roa Duterte spoke about the purchased vaccines of PH against COVID-19 disease.

The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic in the Philippines is not yet over. There are still threats of the coronavirus and, unfortunately, high cases of the disease were recorded daily in the past days.

The pandemic has shaken several healthcare systems across the globe. Even the World Health Organization (WHO) was surprised by how fast the disease has spread.

WHO previously warned that countries must not put their guards down early to prevent a second wave of the disease. Meanwhile, there are now several vaccines against it.

The vaccination program has already rolled out in the Philippines. The healthcare workers are the top priority in the ladder of vaccine recipients.

PH has received donated vaccines from China, the Sinovac vaccine, and from the COVAX facility. There are queries about the vaccines bought by the country using the money loaned from banks.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte reiterated that PH has yet to buy COVID-19 vaccines. The ones that are given to the health workers now were still donated by China and COVAX. According to the President, the money that the country borrowed from the bank is still in the bank.

“Wala tayong bakuna na nabili. Wala pa. Kung magdating man, baka mga next week siguro,” Pres. Duterte said.

As of this writing, vaccinations of the healthcare workers are ongoing. More updates may be posted soon.
