MTRCB Holds Initial Hearing on It’s Showtime July 24 Episode

MTRCB – The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board has conducted its initial hearing on issues involving the July 24, 2026 episode of It’s Showtime. The hearing was attended by representatives and legal counsels from It’s Showtime, ABS-CBN Corporation, GMA Network Inc., Zoe Broadcasting Network, Inc., and ALLTV.

During the hearing, all parties were given the opportunity to explain their side as part of the legal process. The MTRCB also reminded the respondents of its duty to ensure that television programs comply with broadcast standards and remain suitable for viewers, especially children.

Following the hearing, the MTRCB’s Hearing and Adjudication Committee ordered the respondents to submit a verified Joint Position Paper within seven calendar days. They were also instructed to file a Joint Undertaking detailing the steps they will take to improve compliance with MTRCB rules, particularly for live, unscripted, and comedy segments where unexpected incidents may happen.

The Committee also directed the respondents to appoint an On-Air Compliance Officer. This person will monitor live broadcasts and take immediate action when needed to help prevent possible violations of MTRCB regulations.

According to the MTRCB, these measures are intended to strengthen compliance with broadcasting standards and support responsible television programming. The agency also reaffirmed its commitment to protecting young viewers while continuing to consider public feedback in carrying out its responsibilities.

The case remains under review, and no final decision has been issued. The Committee will evaluate the respondents’ submissions, explanations, and available evidence before making its ruling in accordance with existing laws and due process. Until the review is completed, the MTRCB said it will not release further statements or comments that could affect the outcome of the case. The agency emphasized that the final decision will only be made after carefully examining all the evidence presented by the parties involved.
