Isay Alvarez Shares Frustration After Tenant Leaves Unpaid Bills
ISAY ALVAREZ – The veteran actress and singer expressed frustration after a former tenant allegedly left unpaid electricity and rental bills before moving out.
In a social media post, she shared that she was surprised to receive a high electricity bill despite being careful about saving energy in her home. She explained that she regularly turns off lights and electrical switches, making the large bill unexpected.
Alvarez claimed that the tenant left behind ₱135,000 in unpaid rent and also failed to settle the electricity bill. She said the tenant showed her what appeared to be proof of a ₱22,000 online payment, but she later believed the payment receipt was fake. According to Alvarez, she trusted the tenant’s promises and explanations, only to discover that the payments had not been made.
The actress admitted feeling disappointed and upset by the experience, saying she believed the tenant’s assurances and never expected to be left with such a large financial burden. Her post highlighted the importance of being careful when dealing with rental agreements and verifying payments before accepting them as complete.
Isay Alvarez is one of the Philippines’ most respected performers, with a career that spans more than four decades. She is known for her work in musical theater, television, film, and live concerts. She was among the Filipino performers who auditioned for the original London production of Miss Saigon in 1989 and later appeared in the stage musical Himala. She has also starred in several television dramas and movies while continuing to perform in concerts both in the Philippines and overseas.
Alvarez is married to fellow performer Robert Seña, and the couple has long been recognized for their contributions to Philippine theater and music. While she has also drawn public attention in recent years for her social media posts and political views, this issue is separate from her long-established career in the entertainment industry.
